CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy Session

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.

By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Symptoms that benefit from CST:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Motor-Coordination impairments
  • Colic
  • Autism
  • Post-Surgical Dysfunction
  • Disorders of the Central Nervous System
  • Injuries to the spinal cord and brain
  • Curvature of the spine called scoliosis
  • Tension and Stress related problems
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Immune and Neurovascular disorders
  • Post-Surgical dysfunction
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Connective Tissue disorders such as Fibromyalgia
  • Learning disabilities

Offered as a One-Hour Session

CranioSacral Therapy

Description of Modality: CranioSacral Therapy

Part of the Light Touch family of bodywork modalities CranioSacral Therapy was developed by John E. Upledger of the Upledger Institute. Dr. Upledger holds a degree in osteopathic medicine.

CranioSacral Therapy focuses on the CranioSacral system – consisting of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. In a CranioSacral Therapy session a very delicate touch is applied to ease restrictions within the CranioSacral system. The benefits of CST work included an improved effect on the body’s natural healing processes.

According to the Upledger Institute CranioSacral Therapy can be helpful for the following conditions:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Motor-Coordination impairments
  • Colic
  • Autism
  • Post-Surgical Dysfunction
  • Disorders of the Central Nervous System
  • Injuries to the spinal cord and brain
  • Curvature of the spine called scoliosis
  • Tension and Stress related problems
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Immune and Neurovascular disorders
  • Post-Surgical dysfunction
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Connective Tissue disorders such as Fibromyalgia
  • Learning disabilities
